These Essential Oils Might Help Okay, let’s get to know about sinuses before we dive into their treatment. So, sinuses are air-filled spaces in the skull, located behind your forehead, cheeks, nasal bones, and eyes. If your sinuses are healthy, they won’t have any bacteria or other germs. That’s why, most of the time, mucus is able to drain out and the air is able to flow through the sinuses.
However, in cases of people who are extremely sensitive to weather or allergens, these sinuses can get filled with fluid, and hence blocked. Severity varies from individual to individual. But in most cases, sinuses do cause uneasiness, headaches, even nausea or vomiting. So before we tell you all about essential oils and their role in treating sinuses, let’s look at some quick home remedies first -

  • Neti pots - Based on the miracle of Yoga, you need medical or professional supervision before trying this method out, as it can get pretty uncomfortable. In this method, you drain out your sinuses with the help of saline water. Used literally for centuries, neti pots are extremely effective in providing immediate relief from sinuses.
  • Hydrate - This is obviously a no-brainer, because water plays a massive role in keeping your organs working fine. If you are prone to getting sinus infections, make sure you drink enough water.
  • Steam - Another great remedy is inhaling steam. Take some hot water in a wide mouth utensil. Cover your head with a towel above the utensil, and inhale the steam. It will provide relief almost immediately. However, if you want relief for a longer period of time, add vaporub or other ointments.
  • Spicy food - Okay, now this sounds like a myth, but it is indeed true. Eating spicy food when you have sinuses can genuinely help you in clearing the fluids. It will also help with other symptoms.
