Lime essential oil is obtained by either steam distilling the dried peels of the lime or by cold pressing the fresh peels. Citrus aurantifolia is the scientific name for lime. Alpha-pinene, beta-pinene, myrcene, limonene, terpinolene, cineole, linalool, borneol, citral, neral acetate, and geranyl acetate are some of the constituents.


  • Aromatherapy - Add some drops to a diffuser/humidifier to reduce stress, anxiety, and tension. The lime essential oil has a citrus, fruity, refreshing aroma, which is great to combat mental and psychological problems. Its aroma also helps in treating irregular sleeping patterns, and uninterrupted sleep. 
  • Good for skin - Mix 1-2 drops with a carrier facial oil or cream to apply to your face and skin. Lime essential oil is a known antibacterial, which makes it ideal to fight against acne/pimple-causing bacteria. It also treats signs of aging, such as wrinkles and fine lines. 
  • Antimicrobial - Lime essential oil, when diluted and ingested with warm water can successfully kill gut-disease-causing germs. It also eases nausea and treats acidity and uneasy bowel movement. 
  • Good for teeth - This oil can be used as an astringent, which relieves toothaches and strengthens the bond between the gums and teeth, thus preventing tooth decay. When used as a mouthwash, it kills odor-causing germs, giving you a fresh and fruity breath! 
  • Promotes wound healing - When administered externally, it helps wounds heal more quickly and guard against infections on the skin. It can also be applied to the scalp to fortify the hair and possibly shield it from dandruff, lice infestation, and other infections.
