Who doesn’t love rain? The cool atmosphere, fewer heat waves, more greenery - the rainy season is indeed best. But along with so much fun, it also brings odor that seeps into our homes, making them smell bad. So how can we save our homes from smelling bad? The following tips might help -

  1. USUAL TIPS -
  • Keep your footwear clean - Rainy season brings with it a lot of humidity. And if you are someone who gets smelly feet, then you might want to change some habits. Being outside in the heat and dirt makes our footwear smell really bad, and when we don’t wash or clean them afterwards, they give out really foul smell, making your home full with odor. That’s why, it is advised to wash your footwear at least once a week, to get rid of odor-causing germs
  • Damp clothes - Rainy season means extra worry about drying your clothes. Because the humidity in weather is so high, even washing machines fail to work. In that case, your only solution is to keep the ceiling fan running at full speed, expecting it to fan out your clothes. And it works too. But in the process, the damp clothes leave behind their musty smell. To avoid this, keep your vents and windows open all the time.
  • Use deodrant - Sweat leaves behind odor, and it makes us smell bad. The odor causes more inconvenience when it’s rainy season, because the sweat evaporates in the air, mixes with the humidity, and makes your home smell bad too. To prevent this, make sure to always use deodrants.
  • Air freshener - with so many options available in the market, finding a good air freshner isn’t a big task. Go for the one with floral or aqua fragrance to keep your rooms fresh and fragrant.
  1. ESSENTIAL OILS -
  • Tea Tree Oil - This essential oil is a known antimicrobial. It gets rid of breeding mold, and protects you from air borne diseases, which are common during the rainy season. You can dab it on cotton balls, and keep it behind doors, window panes, etc. Or you can mix it with some water to make a DIY air-spray.
  • Eucalyptus Oil - Along with getting rid of odor, it is a great source of antioxidants, Eucalyptus is very rich in flavonoids (a kind of antioxidant), which are believed to shield your body from free radical damage and oxidative stress. Some of the main flavonoids found in eucalyptus oil include catechins, luteolin, phloretin, quercetin et cetera.
  • Lavender Oil -  Lavender Essential Oil is anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antidepressant, antiseptic, antibacterial, antispasmodic, analgesic, detoxifying, and sedative. With its purple flowers that proliferate beautifully in fields, lavender is as much of a vision to behold as it is a plant that has so marvelously aided the healthcare and beauty industry.
  • Neem Oil - Neem is possibly the most effective home remedy that is known to us. It is beneficial for your skin, your hair, your internal health, and your external hygiene as well. Extracted from the same leaves, barks, and stems of the Neem plant is the Neem Oil.
  • Rose Essential Oil - Who isn’t familiar with the fragrance of roses? Extracted from the rose plant is the Rose Essential Oil. It has a wonderful aroma, which is great to reduce any odor inside your home, while also working as a potential stress-reducer and anxiety-inducer.

Thanks,

Happy Health!
