Obsessed with essentials oils? Don't worry, you aren’t alone! Essential oils have truly taken the healthcare market by storm, and rightly so. They offer a plethora of benefits, and they don’t even require large dosages to be used at a single time. But one question is often seen as troubling to essential oils’ users - can essentials be blended? If yes, how to blend them? And what are some effective blends?

  • Can essential oils be blended?

    - Absolutely! You can easily blend essential oils, considering they are blended in the right amounts. Though even if blended in incorrect ratios, essential oil blends do not really cause any major problems, you might not get the desired fragrance, or the resultant fragrance might be too strong for you to relax. So then, how exactly should one blend these oils in proper ratios? Well, the internet is always of use. Always search on the internet if the oils that you want to blend can even be blended or not. Secondly, always read the ratios in which the oils should be blended.

  • Okay, so now you know that essential oils can indeed be blended. But what about some effective combinations that will actually help you improve your health? Keep reading to find out -

    1. Orange oil + Peppermint oil + Lemongrass oil - All three essentials oils have a refreshing aroma, which is extremely helpful in controlling mood, improving sleep, treating insomnia, reducing stress, and helping to alleviate bouncy nerves.
    2. Tea tree oil + Eucalyptus oil - Tea tree oil’s invigorating aroma, when blended with the refreshing aroma of eucalyptus oil offers a very distinctly freshening fragrance, which will lift up your mood, promote good sleep, reduce unnecessary stress, and tension. You can also mix a few drops of both these oils with your bath water to get rid of body odor, germs, and sweat patches.
    3. Rose oil + Coconut oil - Though not an essential oil, when cold-compressed Coconut oil is blended with rose oil and massaged on your skin, it helps reduce the appearance of stretch marks, fine lines, and wrinkles. Coconut oil provides hydration and moisture to your skin, while rose oil offers antibacterial properties.
    3. Jasmine oil + Lavender oil - Both these oils have amazing fragrances, therefore great to be used in your diffuser as a treatment for tension, anxiety, stress, or lack of sleep.

Tips to remember while blending essential oils -

  • Always check on the internet whether the combination that you wish to make is effective or not. Wrong/incorrect blends will give rise to unusual, even unpleasant smells, thus increasing your stress, instead of reducing it.
  • Always ensure that the ratio you are blending the oils in is proper.
  • Make sure you are not using expired essential oils. This can again lead to unpleasant odors.
