ESSENTIAL OILS FOR DRY SKIN
With the winter season almost around the corner, the fear of dry skin, chapped lips is back to haunt us every single day. But have you ever wondered why does winter bring dryness and roughness? Well, the cold air, dry indoor heat, low humidity levels, and harsh winter wind can all zap your skin of moisture. This can leave your skin looking a lot less radiant than normal — not only your face, but also your hands, feet, and other areas exposed to the elements.
So now that you know why winter takes away your skin’s glow and health, it is time to learn about some quick tips to ensure that your skin continues looking beautiful even in the harsh winds of winters.
- Moisturize more - By more, we don’t mean double the quantity of your everyday moisturizer. Moisturize thrice a day, replenish your skin’s moisture anytime you feel your skin feels dry or tight.
- Drink more water - if your body lacks water internally, it will show up on your skin too. That’s why, it is essential that you drink atleast 2-2.5 litres of water everyday. If possible, avoid drinking cold water, and go for lukewarm water instead. This will also help prevent cold and cough, by soothing your throat, and killing illness-causing germs.
- Avoid using harsh face wash/soaps - During winters, your skin demands more love and care. Hence, you should avoid using face wash/soaps that cause irritation to your skin. Because more irritation will definitely cause more dryness, and more dryness might even lead to rashes or redness.

Lavender Essential Oil -
Dilute 2-3 drops of Lavender Essential Oil with any carrier oil/cream of your choice and apply evenly on your facial skin and body. Lavender oil is great to retain moisture. Rose Essential Oil -
Not only is the aroma of rose essential oil absolutely intoxicating, but research shows that it contains several therapeutic antimicrobial and antioxidant2 compounds known to promote healing and reduce inflammation. It also inhibits water loss in the skin and improve texture and tone, which makes it especially great for dry, aging skin that's losing elasticity.
-
Tea Tree Oil -
Mix a few drops of tea tree oil into a small amount of moisturizer or carrier oil. Apply this mixture to the affected areas immediately after getting out of the shower and at least once more each day. Tea tree oil can help soothe dry skin by reducing itching and irritation.
-
Peppermint Essential Oil -
The soothing and cooling effect of peppermint makes it an excellent oil for itchy and irritated skin.
