COLD PRESSED OILS — ARE THEY WORTH THE HYPE?
Cold Pressed Oils v/s Regular Oils — the debate has been going on non-stop in the healthcare industry, with the base question remaining the same: Are cold-pressed oils worth the hype? In short, the answer is YES. They are definitely worth the hype. But what even is this hype? — let’s talk about it.
Before beginning with the endless benefits of cold-pressed oils, let us first discuss what are regular oils and cold-pressed oils. Regular Oils are oils generally used in our kitchens and health/personal care. Their extraction process depends on heat-functioning machinery, unlike cold-pressed oils which are extracted via natural processes. To clear your doubts away, let’s look at this discussion in more detail —
- PRODUCTION: Regular oils are extracted at extremely high temperatures, which makes them lose their natural composition, even nutritional quality i.e. essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, etc. are lost in regular oils. Cold-pressed oils, on the other hand, are extracted at normal room temperature, without any heat involvement i.e. all the nutrients naturally found in the seeds are duplicated in the oil as well.
- ACIDITY: As regular oils are extracted via head application, their acidic value is much high. To make them consumable, they are refined. Cold-pressed oils, because extracted via natural processes, DO NOT contain acid, and also preserve their nutrition.
- ADDED CHEMICALS: As we discussed above, regular oils are refined in order to make them usable, which means lots of chemicals, preservatives are added to them. Whereas cold-pressed oils are naturally processed i.e. you do NOT get any unnecessary chemicals in your oils, only the most natural, genuine, authentic product.
